The annual Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) school rankings for 2024 have been released, offering a comprehensive look at the performance of the best 100 schools in Melbourne 2024 and across the state. 

These scores can be interesting as they reflect academic excellence and overall student achievement and how they change each year with changing cohorts. This article highlights the movements in the rankings for the top 101 schools in 2024, identifying schools that improved, those that declined, and those that held steady between 2023 and 2024.

Note that data used to compare schools is solely VCE median scores 2023 and 2024 released from VCAA.  There are many aspects of schools that should be considered when looking at good schools in Melbourne, VCE median scores is only one of them.  

Top performers with minimal rank changes

There are many aspects of schools that should be considered when looking at good schools in Melbourne, VCE median scores is only one of them. This article only looks at the changes from 2023 to 2024.

  • Ballarat Clarendon College: Maintained its #1 spot despite a drop in VCE median from 39 to 37.
  • Mount Scopus Memorial College and Ruyton Girls’ School: Retained their rankings (#4 and #5) with consistent VCE medians of 37.
